What it is

Green Flags, Red Flags helps teens notice how the people in their lives treat them, in friendships, friend groups, and dating, and know what to do when something isn't okay. It's a printable card sort plus a 16-page workbook, written straight to teens in plain, warm words. It never suggests a teen caused how someone treats them, and it always points to real people who can help.

What's included

  • 36 flag cards about how someone treats you (each works for a friend or someone you're dating), numbered in a mixed order so the answer isn't given away, with a "my gut says" tick box on every card
  • 3 pile cards (Green flag, Yellow flag, Red flag), 2 how-to and reminder cards, and 4 blank cards for flags of their own
  • What's a Flag?: green, yellow, and red explained, plus ground rules (friends and dating both count, patterns matter, it's never your fault, your gut counts)
  • How to Sort Your Cards, plus a no-scissors Quick Sort page with all 36
  • Our Take (3 pages): why each card is a green, yellow, or red flag, and exactly when a yellow flag turns red
  • How Do I Feel Around Them?: a private gut check for up to three people (initials or a code), plus body clues
  • Respect Online: passwords, location sharing, DMs, posting pics, screenshots, and what to do if a private pic is shared or threatened
  • Mixed Messages: common myths ("jealousy means they love you") next to what's actually true
  • Bringing Up a Yellow Flag: a simple "When you / I feel / Can we" script, examples, good moments to talk, and green vs. red responses
  • When It's Not Okay: what helps, step by step, plus a "never your fault" list
  • My Trusted Adults: who it could be, how to reach them, what to say or text, and what I need from them
  • When It's a Friend's Flags: what helps, what backfires, and when to tell an adult
  • Checking My Own Flags: a no-shame self-check with "try a swap" ideas
  • Help Lines: 911, love is respect, 988, and Take It Down, plus a cut-out backup card and a privacy tip
  • A short note for grown-ups using it with a teen
  • Card backs, plus a separate double-sided card file
