What it is

Friend Fix-It helps kids ages 7 to 12 work through a fight or a falling-out with a friend. They cool down, write their side and make a best guess at their friend's side, then decide how big the problem really is. Small and medium problems get a fix from the Repair Menu: say it, write it, or do something kind. Big problems always go to a grown-up. A whole page teaches kids when a friendship problem is not theirs to fix, like when someone is mean on purpose again and again.

What's included

  • How Friend Fix-It Works: 4 picture steps (cool down, look at both sides, size it up, pick a fix)
  • What Happened? worksheet: my view / their view, with picture feelings faces
  • How Big Is It? problem-size page: small, medium, and big friend problems, with what helps for each
  • Repair Menu: 12 fixes to check off, in three ways to repair (say it, write it, do something kind)
  • Words That Help: the 4 parts of a real sorry, words for asking a friend to make it right, and "sorry" phrases to skip
  • 4 fill-in sorry notes ("I'm sorry" and "Can we start over?")
  • 2 draw-it notes for kids who would rather draw than write, plus 4 "notes back" so a friend can answer without talking
  • When It's Not Yours to Fix: signs it's time to tell a grown-up, "telling is not tattling," and a my trusted grown-ups list
  • After the Fix: a no-pressure check-in (every outcome is okay) plus what I learned and something I did well
  • 4 pocket cards for a backpack or desk
  • 2 grown-up pages: "Coach the Repair" (no forced apologies) and "Questions That Help," plus when to step in
